Tapal Tea partnered with Reon for the installation of an on-grid solar system sizing 125 kW at their rooftop in Korangi which was followed by a successive project of 253 kW in 2020. This is one of the few projects to be executed during a partial lockdown making installation and deliveries a big challenge. Additional focus was given to employee welfare due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tapal is also one of Reon’s first sites to showcase 440W modules on a Z-support structure.
While most of the energy is consumed in the tea manufacturing process, the excess units are traded off through net metering. The project works in full zeal with the current energy mix and is expected to generate 430 MWh of energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by 265 tonnes.
